David Ferris

Founder and CEO

Mr. Ferris is the CEO of Ferris Development, a company he originally established to manage personal and commercial real estate holdings.  Building upon an earlier passion for real estate exhibited when he was buying condominiums in Boston while attending Boston College as an undergraduate, Mr. Ferris recognized a unique opportunity to invest in multi-tenant housing and commercial real estate during 2009-2010 which was trading at a steep discount due to the over-leverage preceding the credit crisis.  At this point he formed Ferris Development Group and acquired, renovated, and leased several multi-family homes and has grown the Commercial Portfolio to nearly 900,000 square feet.  The Ferris Development team leases up the properties and builds out custom tenant spaces for approximately 25-40% less than other operators by utilizing in-house construction expertise and management for upgrade projects. The ability to improve the holdings and bring occupancy rates up from zero to fully-leased has driven Ferris Development’s stellar growth

Mr. Ferris also serves as the CEO of Ferris Capital, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisory firm serving over 100 families in Boston, New York, San Francisco, and London.  Ferris Capital manages over $500M in client capital on a discretionary basis using liquid and non-liquid securities.  Prior to founding Ferris Capital, David was a Senior Vice President of Investments with Merrill Lynch.  While at Bank of America /Merrill Lynch, David ran a team that focused on ultra-high net worth families and institutions and was consistently ranked as one of the top performers in the company.  Previously, David was a principal at Thomas Weisel Partners where he helped found the Private Client Group in Boston.  After finishing law school, he began his career in New York working in the Investor Service Group of Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette.

David earned a BA from Boston College and a J.D. from Loyola University of New Orleans School of Law where he is a member of the College of Law Visiting Committee as well as serving as a board member of the university.  David is currently a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
